My client has asked me to find them a Data Platform Manager to drive the governance, optimisation, and stability of their data platform. The successful candidate will be managing and improving the AWS-based data infrastructure, ensuring accurate and reliable reporting, and driving efficiency across data processes. The role requires a strong technical background in cloud data platforms, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across technical and business teams. Day-to-day duties: Maintain and improve the performance, accuracy, and stability of the data platform, including the data warehouse (AWS Redshift or similar). Troubleshoot and resolve long-standing BAU issues affecting system performance. Optimize workloads with autoscaling, workload balancing, and dataset management. Establish and enforce data governance standards and best practices. Implement monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Datadog). Drive automation efforts to streamline data pipelines, reduce manual interventions, and improve efficiency using Python, ETL/ELT tools (e.g., DBT, Airflow), and AWS Lambda. Work with business stakeholders to deliver dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Ensure availability and reliability of critical dashboards for business users. Coach team members on best practices for data management. Manage vendors and technical teams to deliver key improvements. Provide regular updates to teams on platform performance. Key skills and technologies: Cloud Platforms: AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, EC2, CloudWatch). Data Warehousing: Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery. Data Engineering: Python, SQL, ETL/ELT tools (DBT, Airflow, etc.). Monitoring Tools: Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, or similar. Dashboard Tools: Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. Co-working Tools: Slack, Teams, and project management tools. Experience required: Experience managing large-scale data platforms and cloud infrastructure. Strong SQL and Python for data querying, transformation, and process automation. Hands-on experience with data governance and ITSM processes. Excellent communication and team skills. Track record of identifying and implementing cost-saving measures.
