Data Protection Officer, Europe United Kingdom; Remote working The Opportunity You will ensure that Privacy policies, processes and procedures are in place across the European business entities and support, maintain and further implement the Assurant Global Privacy & Data Protection Programme, following the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable European data protection laws. The DPO will be the subject matter expert on European data protection topics, provide advice, monitor and report on Privacy and Data Protection issues and lead investigations about potential data incidents. You will report to the International Privacy Officer within the Assurant Global Privacy Office. You Will: Be a privacy subject matter expert and advise European entities on privacy and data protection matters. Provide practical advice to help European business teams meet privacy compliance requirements. Manage privacy-related issues that have been escalated to the Privacy team, and direct enquiries to the relevant European department for resolution. Monitor resolutions. Educate European entities and employees about their obligations under the GDPR and any other applicable EU member state data protection regulations. Monitor European entities compliance with the GDPR and any other applicable EU member state data protection and perform audits of compliance with such laws and regulations. Support contract negotiations and advise on data processing agreements Ensure Privacy by Design processes are embedded into business. Liaise, partner and act as the contact for the data protection supervisory authorities on matters relating to the processing of personal data and other matters. Develop privacy metrics, following the Assurant Global Privacy Office’s practices, and report to the relevant Executive Managers and EU entities governance boards, and present to European governance forums on privacy and data protection issues. Partner with the lines of business in the investigation and management of potential breaches/instances of non-compliance to support prompt and accurate reporting. You Have: Experience in a DPO role within continental Europe performing a variety of privacy programme components with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced, highly agile environment. Insurance or financial services industry experience is a strong preference Certifications (CIPP/EU, CIPM, CIPT, or CISSP) are beneficial English language (C1/C2) skills are mandatory. Fluency in Dutch or other EU language skills are beneficial Degree level education Expert level of privacy programme management and European privacy laws and regulations (such as GDPR), ability to apply the rules and implementing rules, codes and guidance Demonstrated project management skills, including leading multiple work streams in a resource-constrained environment Demonstrated ability of applying privacy requirements to practical use cases beyond policy formulation and compliance Professional relationship management with all partners (e.g. Supervisory Authorities) Experience drafting, implementing and maintaining internal and external privacy documents Proficient in Microsoft suite of products Benefits & Training Bonus scheme Range of benefits; Financial, Wellbeing, Social Internal Wellbeing Programme Learning and Development opportunities Who are we?
