Data Protection Officer

Our client is a top-flight international law firm which is widely regarded as one of the global elite and well known for the quality of its mandates and the calibre of its people. The firm is looking for an experienced lawyer to lead its data and information governance programme. Reporting to the firm’s General Counsel and Chief Information Officer, in this role you will lead on the development and implementation of the programme to manage all forms of information, digital and hardcopy data, to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and all client requirements across all the firm’s US and global offices. The role will involve a range of responsibilities across data privacy and information governance, including advising on relevant privacy laws in a variety of jurisdictions, working with DPOs in jurisdictions where they are required, updating relevant policies, designing information governance protocols, reviewing and updating document retention guidelines and leading initiatives to drive change across practice groups and support teams. Our client is looking for someone with at least seven years’ experience of data privacy and information governance experience, gained in a law firm or professional services environment, who is also a qualified lawyer. The firm is looking for someone with credibility and strong communication and people skills, who will be able to work effectively with a range of colleagues across the firm.
