* 3 Month Contract Opportunity within the Public Sector * Hybrid working - Locations: Darlington, Titchfield, Newport * £26 per hour Inside IR35 * SC Clearance Required Eligibility Essential Data Scientist Our public sector client is looking for a Data Scientist to join the Strategic Technologies and Techniques team in the Data Science Campus. Following rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), a key focus of the Data Science Campus is to ensure that we are at the forefront of identifying new developments and testing their use with the aim of having a lasting impact, including: Enhanced statistics resulting from higher quality input data, more robust data linkage, and improved processing. More accessible statistics through improved dissemination to users. A more efficient organisation across the data collection, processing, and auxiliary functions. Skills and Experience Proficiency in Python and experience with the full data science and machine learning stack. Strong software engineering skills with a focus on building robust, production-ready systems and understanding of deploying and monitoring such systems in a cloud environment. Experience in using data science techniques (e.g., natural language processing, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, deep learning). Passion for building AI tools that can be used by others to deliver business outcomes. Experience using Google Cloud Platform with a focus on building data science tools utilizing private infrastructure and controlled access. Experience using Generative AI with a focus on implementing the tool into software or tools that can be used by others. Day to Day Collaborate with cross-functional teams including researchers, product managers, and senior stakeholders to quickly understand customer needs and translate them into pragmatic technical solutions leveraging AI. Rapidly prototype AI-powered features and iterate based on user feedback. Establish frameworks, tools, and processes to responsibly develop, deploy, and monitor AI systems.
