A bit about us Gamma is a leading supplier of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS): we provide voice, data and mobile products and services to the UK, German, Spanish and Benelux business markets. Gamma is expanding its UCaaS presence in Europe with a family of businesses focusing on digital automation, delivering Gamma-powered services to SME customers via a network of channel partners in Germany, Spain, and the Benelux region. Our team works fast, with a start-up type of mindset but working within a leading European business. Who are we looking for? The Database Administrator will provide operational support, administration, and maintenance of all company database systems, including installing and configuring database software, monitoring database performance, and ensuring databases are secure and resilient. The current estate consists of over 200 Microsoft SQL Server Database instances, as well as some Mongo and CouchDB systems. What will you be doing day-to-day? You will be responsible for configuring and maintaining company databases systems that support internal and external applications and services, ensuring these systems are secure and reliable. You will identify and resolve database performance issues and perform database optimisation tasks, such as indexing, clustering or replication. You will ensure database policies, procedures and standards are followed and enforced. You will manage access to database systems for both users and service accounts, ensuring permissions are correct and regularly audited. You will ensure reliable operational systems are in place and that systems are monitored in a way that allows issues to be identified quickly and dealt with proactively. You will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation pertinent to the team. You will ensure databases are backed up according to business requirements and that restore procedures are in place and regularly tested. You will take part in a rota providing an out of hours On Call Service. What you’ll need Experience of supporting a large Microsoft SQL Server estate. Required knowledge:

Microsoft SQL Server database administration & access management Data import methods (Microsoft SSIS) Database replication PowerShell

Desirable knowledge:

Disaster recovery and backup tools: Commvault NoSQL database administration: MongoDB, CouchDB Monitoring tools: Nagios, Idera SQLDM, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Automation and version control: Git, Bitbucket Public cloud: AWS

Ability to work under pressure and manage the demands of numerous tasks. Clear written communication and ability to produce coherent documentation. Able to work on own initiative and effectively in partnership with others. Experience of working in a Telecoms company is highly desirable. Special Requirements: OOH on-call rota. Some overtime is required to complete changes and install system security patches outside of standard business hours. Some (limited) travel to other office locations may be expected under extreme circumstances, but this is not expected to be the norm.
