North Tyneside Council are recruiting Child Development Practitioners to work within the 0-19 Children’s Public Health Service.

This is your chance to work with an outstanding group of safeguarding and health professionals. The service has close working relationships with the early help service, multiagency safeguarding hub (MASH), education, housing, primary care, midwifery services and sport and leisure, which ensures good outcomes for families and provides positive working relationships for colleagues.

All colleagues are provided with support and supervision from the Nurse Manager throughout their probationary period and beyond and have access to an identified mentor. The Signs of Safety model is embedded throughout the service and robust safeguarding supervision is provided to colleagues by Safeguarding Nurse Advisors. North Tyneside Childrens Social Care has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2024.

Are you a motivated and enthusiastic individual with experience working in early years or equivalent with knowledge of current issues relating to public health priorities and an understanding of the national drivers with regards to providing evidence-based interventions within the 0-19 service?

In 2022 a CQC inspection where the service was rated Good with Outstanding Leadership stated 'All those responsible for delivering care were committed to working collaboratively as a team to benefit children, young people and their families. They supported each other to provide good care and communicated effectively with other agencies’.

The service was reaccredited in March 2024 with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award and is supported by a Specialist Infant Feeding Team.

The post holder will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme within the context of integrated prevention and early help locality teams. They will ensure that the universal offer is delivered to all children aged 0-19. Extra support and targeted interventions will be offered to those families where additional need is identified.

All 0-19 colleagues use ChatHealth and ParentLine, a confidential texting service, as additional support for the families in North Tyneside.

The essential requirements of the post are: GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, NNEB, BTEC National Diploma in Early Years or equivalent and the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post.

The 0-19 service offers opportunity for career progression and provides an atmosphere of continuous professional development with supervision. We also support the assessment of pre and post registration students.
