An opportunity has arisen for a Decontamination Engineering Tradesperson based within the Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit at the Grange University Hospital. The successful candidate will provide multi-skilled engineering expertise across various mechanical and electrical equipment and fabric, providing cross trade work to the service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Main duties of the job

To provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors by: Ensuring all essential services are maintained to support clinical departments in their prime task of treating patients whilst ensuring all statutory legislation is complied with. Ensuring maintenance tasks are fulfilled to appropriate levels of quality in a compliant manner. Performing engineering maintenance work including activities which are complex and/or non-routine. Qualifications and Knowledge

Completed an accredited Mechanical apprenticeship training course to a minimum level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent plus relevant training or equivalent experience, plus additional training and developed skills e.g. air conditioning. Evidence of significant CPD. JIB Registration. Endoscope washer disinfectors weekly testing (to NHS guidance, City & Guilds), Porus load sterilisers - quarterly testing, annual testing and revalidation, City & Guilds. Washer disinfector - periodic and weekly testing, City & Guilds. Experience

H&V Systems. LTHW Systems. DHW Systems. Completion of a structured training programme. High level of knowledge and understanding of electrical/mechanical services/systems and a working knowledge of other associated trades, familiarity with approved guidance documents. Previous experience of working within the NHS. Previous experience of working in NHS decontamination units. Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda. General awareness of other engineering maintenance-related statutory legislation. Skills and Attributes

Excellent communication skills. Willing to develop individual knowledge. Ability to work unsupervised. Current Full Driving licence. Highly motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious. Participate in on-call and/or shift relief duties. Available to undertake overtime. Experience in team leading. Other

Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work as part of a team. Welsh speaking. Steam boiler operations fundamentals, City & Guilds. Steam plant maintenance, City & Guilds. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
