Job description The Cyber Defence and Risk (CyDR) Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Team Manager is a new role, within the recently established Threat & Information Security Team and will operate the M365 optimised and enhanced security tools, that have been enabled to address fundamental security gaps and issues across Defence. In this role, you’ll drive the team to continue to develop the tools that have been initiated, to increase Defence’s cyber resilience. Responsibilities Manage, report and optimise team delivery/performance by: Managing the backlog / pipeline of new rules, ensuring the operational and service desk impact remains within manageable limits. Ensuring DLP delivery meets the changing threat landscape and alignment against changing business requirements. Maintaining the support wrap (a group of services) for the DLP service; optimisation of the capability and alignment with policy. Documentation update approval and publishing, reporting metrics for senior management. Alignment with the Service Owner of the M365 package and maintenance of the support wrap. Manage basic accounts and writing budget request business cases, when required. Team Management: Line-manage a team, co-ordinate the day-to-day activity, ensuring the team meets and delivers objectives; manage recruitment activities and employee continuous professional development. Represent the team at relevant internal and external meetings. Meetings and relationships: Prepare responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Ministerial Questions (MQs), Parliamentary Questions (PQs) etc. in relation to information security incidents. Build and maintain relationships with relevant organisations across Government. Person specification This role may be suitable for someone with previous experience in data analysis, Microsoft Cloud Computing platforms including Azure, IT service management, information management, risk management and/or governance and data protection. Previous experience or technical knowledge can help but we’re looking for the core skills and the motivation and ability to learn, so we can support your continuous development in the role. We’ll provide opportunities to maintain or gain industry qualifications, certifications or memberships where required. Ideally, you’ll also have the following skills: Experience in leading, supporting, coaching and mentoring colleagues. Acute attention to detail. Great organisation, timekeeping and prioritisation skills. Able to keep calm under pressure and use your initiative and analytical skills. Personable, task focused and able to build relationships with the core team and wider colleagues. A passion for security and technology and identifying and solving problems. Motivation, commitment and the desire to continue to learn and develop. Ability to work in a fast pace, demanding environment. A degree in IT, Cyber Security or a related subject or equivalent experience may be beneficial. Additional details: This position can be based at either MOD Main Building, Whitehall, London SW1A 2HB or MOD Corsham, Westwells Road, Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 9NR. Work location will be agreed once the successful candidate has been selected. There may be a requirement to travel within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits) for meetings, training or operational reasons. This post is eligible for a Digital Skills Allowance of up to £11,400 per annum. Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview against 4 core technical skills only and reviewed annually in line with MOD policy. If not already held, successful candidates will be required to obtain DV clearance prior to taking up employment. This position is open to sole UK nationals only.
