Delivery Engineer
to be based in the Kent region to support our Water Resources & Production function. This function is responsible for a range of assets including Water Supply Works, Water Booster Stations, and Water Service Reservoirs that produce wholesome water for our customers by ensuring reactive projects are managed correctly to meet operational requirements. Your role will be key in ensuring contractors safely deliver the installation or replacement of required assets on time, to the required standard, and within budget. You will also ensure that the work meets regulatory and statutory requirements, maximizing benefits to Southern Water. You will manage day-to-day issues regarding the delivery of operational-led schemes or projects within your remit and be accountable for measuring progress against the reactive work priorities. You will take proactive steps to mitigate any delays or deviations from the project plan to ensure that the project is delivered to the design and criteria specified by Asset Management. The nature of work requires you to manage and agree on commissioning, take-over, completion, and final certification criteria with contractors and operations. Therefore, frequent visits to sites will be required to review site activities and monitor progress to ensure works are progressing in a timely manner and that the work is of satisfactory quality. You will also be responsible for raising, authorizing, and completing work orders and purchase orders within Southern Water's work management systems, ensuring allocation to the correct budgets. In managing contractors to comply with the agreed requirements, you will address any issues with contractors and resolve these as soon as possible to ensure that risks associated with the project are understood, documented, and managed until completion. You will be collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive down POOA (Plant Out Of Action) and save Southern Water money on Opex and Capex by minimizing the plant on hire time and costs. In this highly empowering role, you will utilize your understanding of risks to the business when dealing with reactive works, able to challenge work priorities based on this knowledge and information to ensure that local concerns are resolved without compromising strategic business targets or requirements. Reporting to the Regional Maintenance Manager in Water Resources and Production, you will collaborate with the frontline Operations and Maintenance teams within your geographical area, where no two days are the same. To be successful in this role, you ideally have a background in Engineering (Mech/Elec/Multi) and/or Project Management with previous experience working with contractors within water operations.
