As a recently established practice in a picturesque village, Tattenhall Dental is building an excellent reputation to deliver a reliable service to valued patients in a non-pressured environment. We are looking for someone who is flexible, committed and motivated to join our small team.
Typical duties for a dental nurse include: Taking responsibility for the decontamination of instruments. Ensuring that all relevant materials and supplies are in place. Looking after patient records – including making notes when the dentist is examining a patient. Working closely with the dentist, responding quickly to requests and generally keeping the surgery ready for use. Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and control of the practice. Liaising with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records. Attending and participating in practice meetings. Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice. Undergoing training as may be required to develop skills and abilities. Attending refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR. Acting in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct. Reception duties including answering the phone in a professional manner and booking appointments using practice computers. Money processing and issuing receipts. Where you’ll work

Adhere to legal and ethical responsibilities in line with General Dental Council requirements. Take responsibility for the integrity of own actions and completed work, recognising the limits of your competence and experience. Comply with current best practice guidelines. Put patients’ interests first and act to protect them by working in a patient-centred way. Effectively manage own time and resources. Provide chair-side support during dental procedures. Monitor, support and reassure patients throughout all aspects of their treatment. Communicate appropriately, effectively and sensitively at all times and through all media. Respect patients’ dignity and choices and act without discrimination. Check that valid consent is obtained for all treatments and personal care delivery. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Work in the clinical environment in a safe and efficient manner. Select and prepare the correct equipment, instruments and materials. Manage and perform effective decontamination and infection control procedures. Mix, handle, store and dispose of materials in line with manufacturers' recommendations. Create and update accurate and current patient records. Carry out processing of radiographs in line with local procedures and rules. Make effective decisions regarding the safety of patients when taking a radiograph. Deliver appropriate and current evidence-based oral and general health advice. Recognise and support action to deal with medical emergencies. Respond to medical emergencies and be competent in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Participate in quality improvement activities as required. Be collaborative and work as part of the team. Your training plan
In-house training plus the candidate will follow a Level 3 Dental Nurse (integrated) Apprenticeship programme and study towards a full Standard in Dental Nursing. This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College – South & West. If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A-C (9-4) in maths and English, or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 1 Functional Skill in the relevant subject. Requirements
