Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Dental Nurse to join our team in the Princess Alexandra Dental Wing in Kingston and Richmond Foundation Trust. As a Band 4 Registered Dental Nurse, you will be supported by Principal Nurses and the multidisciplinary team to undertake all relevant forms of dental nursing care and patient management. You will be expected to act in an accountable manner, adhering to relevant codes of conduct and policies. Key Responsibilities: Professional:

Demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based practice in dental nursing. Ensure all equipment is in working order and report faults. Prepare and maintain dental materials and patient care records. Provide patient escort and respond to patient queries. Implement infection prevention and control practices. Participate in audits and research-based practice.

Management:

Organize workload to provide timely and appropriate care. Support health and safety requirements. Act as the named nurse for individual or groups of patients. Manage designated areas within the ward and coordinate the department in the absence of Principal Nurses / Lead Nurse. Report complaints, incidents, and accidents.

Communication and Teamwork:

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team. Provide accurate information to patients for informed decision-making. Maintain written documentation in line with clinical standards and corporate policy.

Education and Training/Self-Development:

Identify and undertake appropriate training and education. Participate in annual performance reviews. Attend statutory and mandatory training. Adhere to Trust policies and health and safety practices.

Person Specification: Qualifications:

Statutory Registered Dental Nurse Further post-registration education/training (desirable)

Experience:

3 years relevant clinical experience 6 months experience within the NHS within the last 3 years Experience in a hospital Maxillofacial Unit/Orthodontic Department (desirable)

Skills:

Empathy and compassion towards patients and their families Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize and adapt Excellent organization and planning skills Good IT skills

Knowledge:

Knowledge of professional codes of conduct and Trust’s vision, values, and strategic objectives Understanding of current care programs and the NHS constitution

Other:

Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative Willingness to undertake further education
