Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust Worcestershire Community Dental Services is a county-wide service seeing patients on a referral basis. Our patients have additional needs such as medically compromised, phobias, special needs, autism, looked after adults, and children. We are looking for a Qualified Dental Nurse who is a friendly, reliable, and understanding individual who wants to make a difference in the dental care we deliver to our patients. We cover dentistry in patients' homes, hospitals, and clinic-based settings. We offer treatment via sedation, local, and general anaesthetics. You will work alongside consultants, specialists, and highly experienced dental clinicians, therapists, nurses, and receptionists. In our most recent CQC evaluation, the community dental team was rated outstanding for caring.

Main Duties of the Job Your primary responsibility will be to provide clinical support in a wide range of treatments for a broad client base. Extended duties would be a distinct advantage but are not essential. We would like you to have a welcoming and positive approach for our patients and be an upbeat and reliable member of the team, able to work well in challenging situations and maintain excellent cross-infection control.

We are offering full or part-time hours; our clinical sessions run Monday to Friday from 8:45 to 12:30 and 13:15 to 17:00.

Job Responsibilities

Be a key member of the dental team, working with Dentists and Therapists to assist in the smooth organisation of the surgery to give a high standard of care to patients.

Undertake surgery duties on a daily basis with occasional reception duties associated with the needs of Worcestershire Community Dental Service.

Work at clinics across Worcestershire.

Registered with the General Dental Council and ensure maintenance of this registration.

Person Specification Qualifications

Registered on the GDC

Trained and examined to National Certificate level or equivalent

Certificate in Radiography

Certificate in Oral Health Promotion

Certificate in Special Care

Additional Criteria

Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post

Knowledge

Knowledge of Salaried Dental Service

Experience

Dental chairside assistance in a range of patient care treatments

Experience of organising and maintaining a dental surgery including good infection control and decontamination procedures

Experience of working in a dental setting including handling cash, booking appointments, and sending correspondence to patients

Maintenance of CPD portfolio

Skills & Abilities

Ability to challenge poor behaviour

A positive attitude and able to act on feedback

Ability to praise and be supportive to others

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats

Numerate to be able to deal with weekly banking

Ability to deliver appropriate resuscitation techniques in basic life support for adults and children

Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks

Ability to work as part of a team
