JOB ROLE: Dental/Orthodontic Nurse & Receptionist As a Dental/Orthodontic Nurse with us, you will have great support and mentoring from our widely experienced and professional team in addition to great training and personal development opportunities. Supporting chair-side on a range of dental/orthodontic treatment as well as managing your own records clinic (relevant qualification appropriate) in our modern and well-equipped surgeries, you'll also get to work alongside a wonderful reception team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To maintain good customer relations with all patients and parents. To maintain good customer relations with referring dentists. To portray a professional attitude to doctors, staff, patients/parents, and referring dentists. TASKS/DUTIES Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy, and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures, zoning requirements, and manufacturers' instructions. Ensure to leave other surgeries (not yours) the same way you have found it. Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations. Provide chair-side assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available. Always ensure the care and welfare of patients in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner. Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed. Observe patient confidentiality at all times. Handle all substances in accordance with Health and Safety policies. Be familiar and comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, Mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal, etc. Develop radiographs and attach to relevant patient records. Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received, and fitted. Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery. Scan documents to patient records, ensuring computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored. Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records. Attend and participate in practice meetings. Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (including the duties and tasks of receptionist as required). Undergo training as may be required to develop your skills and abilities. Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR. Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct. Work at other practice locations from time to time as required. Inform the ordering person of any supplies that need re-ordering. Assist with maintaining storage of models and record keeping. Regularly change solutions for impression disinfection. Suction units to be maintained (daily). Empty clinical waste and replace at the end of every day. Ensure practice compliance with Health and Safety requirements. Other: To always have the patients and the practice’s interest first. Make courtesy calls to patients/other practices as requested by clinicians. Please note that job descriptions may be altered during the course of your employment.
