An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Area Manager to join the team at Nexus Fostering. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated social worker to be based at our South Midlands office, which covers Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley and Walsall.
The Role
As Deputy Area Manager, you will support the Area Manager with formal supervision and management of staff in the local offices. You will provide guidance and support to local staff, ensuring that all statutory regulations are met relating to good professional fostering practice. You will also ensure that recording systems for children, carers and staff are maintained in line with Nexus Fostering procedures. You will deputise for the Area Manager in their absence and will attend management meetings and supervision as allocated by them.
Alongside the Area Manager, you will consult with the Placements Manager to identify appropriate placements. You will ensure that children and young people in placement are visited regularly, in line with Nexus Fostering procedures, and referred for specialist services as appropriate. You will also make sure that foster carers are annually reviewed in line with regulatory framework.
As Deputy Area Manager, you will provide supervision to student social workers undertaking professional training, and to newly qualified Social Workers completing their post qualification AYSE training.
What we’re looking for…
Dip SW/CQSW/Social Work Degree and current SWE registration
Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes
Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS
Experience of working to targets and performance indicators
Have experience in children’s services and foster care delivery
Willing to participate in an out of hours telephone support system and undertake occasional out of hours/weekend work by attending events, meetings and training
