You will support and assist the Catering Services Manager on the operational management of the Hospital Catering Services and provide a comprehensive, high quality, cost effective and safe service to patients, staff and visitors. You will put the patients and staff wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do. The Catering Department provides a fresh cook bulk patient feeding service and a retail food area using fresh daily commodities sustainable and locally sourced products where possible, as well as 2 satellite units. A team of Chefs and Catering Assistants deliver quality food and service that regularly attains 100% satisfaction in patient surveys. The aims are always to develop services as the needs of the patients and staff change. You are responsible for the recruitment, selection, welfare and disciplinary procedures relating to staff and the facilitation of induction programmes and ongoing staff training and development. You will ensure the highest standards of food hygiene safety, food quality and nutrition and show leadership in achieving and maintaining the highest standards of health & safety through the development of monitoring systems, policies, procedures, whilst carrying out risk assessments and action planning. In addition, you will assist in Trust-wide strategic catering developments and take a lead on activities and projects where delegated by the Catering Services Manager, making assessments, providing written reports and implementing new ways of working within the Catering Department. You will assist in the management of all retail outlets, producing monthly trading accounts and will continue to make improvements and drive sales in all retail outlets whilst catering for the needs of staff, visitors and patients.
