As Deputy COO you will be a senior operational point of contact at the RUH, with responsibility to support the COO in oversight of operational management, performance, and service improvement of care to patients, within our three Divisions. Essential skills required for the role include: Ability to provide highly visible and inspirational leadership for staff throughout the RUH, championing a professional and open culture which empowers staff to deliver consistently exceptional care with compassion, acting as a role model for the behaviours and high professional standards expected. Previous experience of working in a senior leadership role of a large and highly complex organisation. Proven ability to managing and implement change. Proven ability to negotiate with senior stakeholders, using complex, highly sensitive, and sometimes contentious information. Knowledge of and experience in delivering all key national and local targets and standards related to our healthcare services. Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) and learning. Qualification and Training

Graduate level education and/or professional/clinical professional qualification or equivalent experience Evidence of continued professional development. Post-graduate qualification or undertaking Master's Degree/MBA or equivalent experience Educated to Degree level or equivalent Knowledge and Experience

Extensive leadership and senior management experience in a medium/large acute healthcare provider setting. Managing and implementing change to include specifically: Staff/structure realignment ?processes and financial system implementation ?large scale national/legislative initiatives Experience of and ability to manage complex operational situations that involve staff from all levels within the organisation and across a range of professional and organisational boundaries Significant experience of budget and staff management Experience of working in the NHS. Specific Skills

To understand diverse interest groups and power bases within organisations and wider community and dynamics between them. Expert communication skills necessary to lead the successful communication of the highly complex information in relation to the financial aspects of this issue, including within hostile, antagonistic and emotive environments. To hold expert knowledge and skills on all aspects of NHS Finance. Ability to interpret, advise and assess risk on courses of action and allocations as a result of new guidance or reforms.
