About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced care professional to join us as a Deputy Manager within our Children’s Services on Bishops House. This home, with a current mix of male and female service users, aged between 9 and 16, supports children and young people with a diverse range of sensory, mobility and health needs and although our main specialty is Epilepsy, we cater to learners with a range of needs such as ASD, Global Development Delay and Cerebral Palsy. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to work with professionals and specialists across our multi-disciplinary team to improve health outcomes and maximise childhood experiences through play and activity whilst ensuring we provide a safe, vibrant and nurturing service for all.

Working under the direction of the Registered Manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of the house and deputising in their absence. You will ensure that all staff in your area are effectively trained and supervised, the home is adequately staffed and shifts are planned and led in an organised manner. You will also be on hand to provide advice and support to develop the Children’s Home ensuring a safe and professional environment for all.

The role is fast-paced and varied and will require you to work a mixed shift pattern to suit the needs of the service. This will include three 9am – 5pm shifts, one early (7:00am – 2:45pm) and one late shift (2:15pm – 9:45pm) each week and alternate weekends.

About you

You’ll be working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams across St Elizabeth’s, liaising with residents, families and external agencies so well developed interpersonal skills are essential. You will be confident leading and mentoring your team to ensure the smooth running of the home. The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or equivalent), along with relevant experience of providing care and support to children or young people with additional needs/disabilities in a professional capacity or in a residential setting.
