We are excited to be recruiting for a Deputy Designate for Children Safeguarding Children and Children and Young People in Care (CYPIC) to work within our all-age safeguarding team. The post holder will be a qualified health practitioner with prior experience as a named professional for safeguarding in a provider trust. The post holder will work with the Senior Safeguarding Lead and Designated Nurse for Children and Young People in Care (CYPIC) to ensure processes are in place to protect children from abuse; recognising specific vulnerabilities and to identify, escalate and take actions when risks are identified using knowledge across a wide range of practice and work environments. The post holder is responsible for strategically supporting the safeguarding children portfolios and also the young people in care portfolio across Frimley ICB. Linked to continuous workforce development and transformation the post holder will provide expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Safeguarding Directorate. The post holder is part of the team responsible to manage and implement new and extended ICB safeguarding statutory duties identified within the Safeguarding Assurance and Accountability Framework (SAAF) 2024 and Working Together 2023. The post holder will be expected to work across the Frimley ICB geography as part of the Frimley ICB Safeguarding Team and be able to deputise for the Senior Safeguarding lead and Designated Nurse for Children and Young People in Care and also the Designated Professional for Safeguarding Adults, when requested to do so. The post holder will support the ICB’s Designated statutory responsibilities for Safeguarding Children. The post holder will support the Designated Nurse for CYPIC. The post holder will support Learning Disability and Safeguarding relating to adults and children. The post holder will jointly hold the strategic lead for Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) and Executive decision making. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a developmental post and applicants are invited from those who hold a professional clinically recognised qualification, eg Registered Nurse or allied professional. They should have at least 2 years post qualification experience of holding a Safeguarding Lead role for a NHS provider organisation and have considerable experience with working with families who have safeguarding issues. The post holder will be supported by the Frimley ICB Safeguarding Team, and they will be a member of this team. They will develop expertise in working for the ICB in safeguarding children and adults and hold an expert clinical lead role in safeguarding. The post holder, as part of the team, will be expected to work closely with all multiagency partners to improve system wide safeguarding response and protection. Person specification

Qualifications and knowledge

NHS Professional qualification: For example, Registered General Nurse, Registered Allied Professional, Health Visitor, School Nurse Evidence of post-basic continuing professional development in Safeguarding. Specialist Safeguarding Supervision Qualification. Educated to master’s level or able to demonstrate relevant clinical experience and research in equivalence including national recognition. Experience of working at a professional level in the NHS and working as a safeguarding specialist role in a NHS health provider organisation for at least 2 year’s post qualification. Knowledge and practical application of legal frameworks relating to safeguarding. Evidence of leadership development through continuous professional development. Experience and knowledge of multi-agency working. Experience of change management. Ability to demonstrate experience working in clinical practice in relation to safeguarding adults and children. Experience of designing, undertaking and analysing audits. Able to work under pressure, continually prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines. Ability to demonstrate examples from practice in relation to promoting and improving patient safety and dignity. Experience of dealing with highly complex, sensitive, and difficult situations. Excellent communication skills which include an ability to discuss sensitive and emotive issues to individuals and large groups of staff and to parents/carers. Ability to negotiate in difficult situations including: • Conflict resolution • Ability to facilitate multidisciplinary relationships • Motivation of staff.
