As part of our internal re-organisation to strengthen the support to the newly created care group structure of Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking to recruit an experienced

Deputy Director Safety & Security .

The post holders will work in partnership and will work closely with the Care Group leadership structures, and wider trust to create an environment which promotes and supports safety for our patients, staff, and visitors ensures we are providing right care for the right patients and that service users and their carers experience is captured understood and responded to.

To ensure that key safety management functions are implemented and embedded throughout NSFT, which is instrumental in reducing harm and maximises learning, and by so doing positively influences the Trust's position which provides the greatest level of assurance in relation to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), National Health Service England (NHSE), NHS Resolution (NHSR) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Main duties of the job This post holder will work in conjunction with the Director for all aspects of the Trust's Safer Care agenda to support and improve integrated Quality and Safety of care within the Trust.

On behalf of the Director, provide organisational leadership for the Safety and Security function to support the strategic and operational priorities of the Trust.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Deputy Director of Safer Care and will provide appropriate cover for all aspects of Safer Care in periods of absence.

The post holder will manage the day-to-day operations with the Safety and Security function within the Safer Care Directorate.

On behalf of the Director, be responsible for the development and improvement of all Safer Care functions and compliance with all external and national requirements.

They will also ensure effective systems, structures and processes are in place to deliver safe and secure care that reduces risk for service users & carers, staff and members of the public, to improve people's experience of services that leads to better outcomes.

They will be responsible for the Trust's policy processes, from drafting, co-ordination, consultation and approval and ratification, and will maintain a robust policy archive for live access.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

Educated to master's level or equivalent level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area within the NHS. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

Diploma in Health, Safety and Environmental Management NEBOSH General Health & Safety Certificate

Experience Essential

Significant experience operating immediately below, board level and supporting Executive Directors / Operational Directors Significant level of experience of developing and designing quality and safety systems with project management experience and a track record of delivery and implementation. In depth knowledge of the wider NHS agenda and current issues and guidance Working with service users, carers, stakeholders, and members of the public
