Friday 24th January About us

Oakridge School is two-from entry school in High Wycombe. There is a vibrant and inclusive learning community committed to providing high-quality education and fostering the personal development of all our students. We pride ourselves on our supportive environment, dedicated staff, and our strong partnership with families and the wider community. The school has amazing, polite and respectful children who love being at school and learning. All visitors comment on positive behaviour and learning attitudes. The staff all share the school’s vision of ‘Enhancing the life chances of all our children.’ We feel strongly about wellbeing and workload, which is why we have developed the attached, ‘Wellbeing and Workload Charter.’ As Deputy Head, you will play a key role in partnership with the Headteacher, driving school improvement, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, and ensuring the wellbeing of both staff and students. You will be working closely with the current Headteacher who has overseen the school’s journey from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good,’ and is willing to support a candidate whose ambition may be to become a Headteacher. Three senior leaders now hold Headship positions.

At Oakridge School, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our students’ lives. We offer a supportive working environment, flexible working if needed, ongoing professional development, and a collaborative team atmosphere.

We are looking forward to welcoming someone to our forward-thinking Leadership Team, who recently won ‘Primary School Leadership Team of the Year,’ in the 2024 Buckinghamshire School Awards. You will be working with a teaching team who are open-minded, work well together and enjoy improving their knowledge and developing their practice. You may have some experience of developing others. You will be working with wonderful children, who have excellent behaviour and learning attitudes. Whilst there is an expectation to do some teaching to support the development of Teaching and Learning, this is a non-class based teaching role. About you

We want to employ someone who is passionate about enhancing the life chances of children. We are looking for an effective teacher who is positive and wants to develop. We want someone who is excited about the impact education can make to the lives of children.

We are not looking for the ‘perfect’ candidate, but someone who has the right attributes and attitude to succeed. In your application, tell us what you’ve done and achieved so far and your aspirations for this post and beyond.

Please see the Person Specification for more details. Other information

Visits to the school are warmly welcome. To arrange a visit or to find out more about the role, please contact our school office on the number below. Please send completed application forms to the email address below.
