We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Senior Registered Practitioner (Theatre Nurse or ODP) to join our AfPP accredited perioperative team as a Deputy Lead Theatre Practitioner for Orthopaedic Surgery.
You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, working primarily as a scrub practitioner but with flexibility to cover either Anaesthetics or Recovery when required.
This role is ideally suited to a senior registered practitioner (Nurse or ODP) with proven experience working as a scrub practitioner in orthopaedic surgery, who is looking to progress their perioperative career to lead and mentor junior staff.
Your working hours will be 4 days per week working between Monday and Saturday 07:45 – 17.45.
Role Responsibilities
Work as the lead member of the scrub team ensuring a high standard of clinical care and safety for patients within the theatre unit.
Provide clinical leadership to junior staff, deputising for the theatre manager when necessary.
Communicate effectively with other departments e.g. Sterile Services, Wards, and Imaging department to ensure efficient patient care.
Prepare operating and anaesthetic rooms for surgery as required, ensuring appropriate use of resources and minimal waste.
Assess patient care requirements, implementing care and evaluating outcomes.
Person Specification
Be a registered Practitioner (RN or ODP).
Have completed or be currently undertaking a Practice Educator Course.
Have post registration clinical experience as an orthopaedic practitioner in an acute hospital (NHS or Private).
Have experience in planning, organising and running lists within the theatre suite.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Have a post graduate clinical qualification in a specialty or as First Assistant.
