This post is a maternity cover position for a fixed term of two years. The Deputy Medical Education Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of an effective Medical Education service at Harrogate NHS Foundation Trust. This includes overseeing training programs, managing educational events and ensuring the smooth administration of medical education processes. The role involves close collaboration with senior medical and administrative staff, as well as external stakeholders such as universities and professional bodies.

This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of medical education at HDFT while covering for a valued team member during their maternity leave. Main duties of the job

Team Management:

Lead and manage the Medical Education administrative team, including recruitment, appraisals, and daily operations.

Training Coordination:

Oversee medical inductions, study leave, and training programs for doctors and medical students.

Policy and Process Improvement:

Develop policies and improve administrative and electronic systems.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work with universities, HEE, GMC, and internal teams to enhance education delivery.

Event Coordination:

Organize training events, courses, and conferences, ensuring smooth logistics. Support for Medical Staff:

Provide advice on study leave, compliance, and professional development.

Data and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records and produce reports to support quality assurance.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Degree level (or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience). European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Literate and numerate to GCSE standard in Maths and English

Desirable

Teaching or Adult Education qualification

Experience

Essential

Experience in senior administration or management Experience in dealing with senior colleagues / leads Proven management / supervisory experience

Desirable

Working within the Higher Education sector / NHS environment and dealing with senior academics / clinicians Experience of budgetary management

Knowledge

Essential

A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it. Knowledge of learning technologies
