Kingdom Healthcare are looking to recruit a Deputy Nurse Manager for our Northern Ireland service. Job Title: Deputy Nurse Manager Location : Downpatrick, Northern Ireland Reports To : Registered Nursing Manager Contract Type : Full-time Hours : 40 hrs per week Salary : c.£42k Job Summary The Deputy Nurse Manager will support the Registered Nursing Manager in ensuring the highest standards of care and nursing practice within the facility. This role is pivotal in maintaining safe, effective, and person-centred care for all residents, in line with regulatory requirements set by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) and other relevant frameworks. The Deputy Nurse Manager will be responsible for leading and supporting the nursing team, ensuring effective staffing, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Key Responsibilities Support Nursing Leadership: Assist the Registered Nursing Manager in the overall operational management of the nursing team, ensuring quality care delivery in line with RQIA regulations and best practice standards. Clinical Leadership: Provide direct leadership to nursing staff, offering clinical support, guidance, and mentorship. Lead by example to ensure high standards of clinical practice and patient care. Staff Management: Oversee the daily management of nursing staff, including rota planning, staff allocation, and performance management. Assist with recruitment, training, and development of nursing personnel. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Support the Nursing Manager in maintaining compliance with all relevant health and safety, regulatory, and legal standards, ensuring documentation, records, and care plans meet required quality and regulatory benchmarks. Care Planning & Assessment: Support the nursing team in the development, implementation, and review of individualised care plans, ensuring that residents’ needs are met holistically and in a person-centred manner. Staff Training & Development: Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs to ensure nursing staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver safe, effective care. Infection Control & Safety: Ensure that infection control measures are adhered to and that all nursing staff are trained in the latest guidelines and protocols. Communication & Teamwork: Promote effective communication within the nursing team, as well as with other departments, families, and external agencies. Foster a positive working environment to enhance team morale and collaboration. Incident Reporting & Risk Management: Assist in the investigation and reporting of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken to mitigate risks and enhance patient safety. Support to Registered Nursing Manager: Act as the deputy in the absence of the Registered Nursing Manager, taking responsibility for the management of the nursing team, residents’ care, and overall operations as required. Essential Criteria Qualification: Registered Nurse (Adult) with NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration. Experience: At least 3 years post-registration experience in a clinical leadership or supervisory role, ideally within a care home or healthcare setting. Knowledge & Skills : In-depth understanding of RQIA regulations and Care Standards for Northern Ireland. Knowledge of infection control practices and health and safety legislation. Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Commitment to Professional Development: Willingness to undertake further training and education to support personal and professional growth. Desirable Criteria Post-registration qualifications in Leadership and Management (e.g., ILM, ENB 998, etc.). Experience in managing or supporting the management of nursing teams within a healthcare setting. Knowledge of Health & Social Care (HSC) policies and procedures in Northern Ireland. Personal Attributes Compassionate and empathetic with a commitment to person-centred care. Strong organisational and time management skills.
