Main duties of the job Child Development Services Chichester is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking professional to join its management team as a Deputy Operational Head of Service for Chichester Child Development Centre (CDC). The post holder will provide operational leadership support to the teams within the CDC such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Specialist Nursing, and Administration teams and will work in close partnership with the medical lead. There is a requirement to work with the Worthing Deputy Operational Head of Service to jointly manage services within the West (Coastal) Locality. The position will be based at Chichester Child Development Centre (CDC); however, there is an expectation to travel between sites as appropriate. Working alongside the Operational Head of Service and AHP/Medical Clinical Head of service of Child Development Service, this is an exciting opportunity to continue the development of our services and provision of excellent patient care alongside our experienced clinical leads and Children's Professional leads. The Deputy Operational Head of Service will lead on the planning and delivery of service targets and objectives in line with the Trust's annual business planning round, and actively monitor delivery throughout the year coordinating resources across teams as necessary. Person Specification Qualifications and/or professional registration Essential Bachelor's degree in a health, social care or related area of study. Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant clinical or health service management area, or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience. Other Essential Access to own vehicle for work-related travel Experience Essential Substantial experience in a leadership role including contributing to operational management of services. Experience of monitoring, analysing and assessing clinical operational performance within a team setting Experience of a supervisory role and personal development planning. Experience of staff management including recruitment and retention of staff, performance management, and managing sickness and absence. Experience of budget management, budget monitoring and review. Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams. Experience of partnership working with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory service providers. Experience of assessing risks within clinical services and developing risk management Skills and knowledge Essential Knowledge of NHS Human Resource Policies and Procedures Knowledge of multidisciplinary team working and an understanding of differing professional role boundaries. Knowledge of basic clinical operational processes including budget management, target setting and action planning. Ability to monitor and maintain standards of care within a clinical service. Ability to identify, assess and manage clinical and operational risks. Able to translate complex information make it meaningful to staff at all levels and across all professions both verbally and in writing. Ability to occasionally manage distressing and emotional circumstances with staff, patients, and their carers. Ability to develop and draft local standard operating procedures. Ability to deal with competing demands, priorities, and deadlines whilst managing operational imperatives and frequent interruptions. Ability to engage stakeholders through discussion, presentation and direct liaison. Well-developed presentation skills. Word-processing and keyboard skills and ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. A natural curiosity backed by excellent critical analytical skills.
