Deputy Ward Manager

to support our dynamic team at Baldock Manor, a leading psychiatric hospital committed to delivering outstanding patient care.

As a Deputy Ward Manager, you will:

Play a key leadership role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients.

Support the Ward Manager in day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth running of the ward.

Lead and motivate a skilled team of nurses and healthcare staff.

Contribute to clinical governance and service improvement.

Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Support Service Lead in managing sickness and absence on a shift basis and in the absence of the Ward in line with policy, in partnership with HR and the principles of safe staffing.

Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff, including interview panels and formal induction programme.

Liaise with service lead when reviewing ward basic protocol.

To be scheduled for weekly on call duty at least once a month.

Attend service improvement meetings such as clinical improvement, restrictive practice, team meeting and other practice review meeting as scheduled.

Requirements:

Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration.

Experience in a leadership role within a mental health setting.

Strong clinical and communication skills.

A passion for improving mental health care services.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working as a nurse in a mental health setting.

Experience in OPMH care or PICU is desirable.

You must have outstanding communication skills, excellent clinical skills and be motivated to offer the highest standards of care.

Baldock Manor Hospital is a thriving service which in recent years has undertaken extensive development work to become the hospital it is today. Our focus is recovery for our patients with quality care and measurable outcomes at the centre of all we do. Baldock Manor boasts a full MDT with Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology and Occupational Therapy practitioners on site as well as a very able team of Senior support workers, support works, Therapies assistants and more.

Being a smaller hospital gives us the opportunity to coach and mentor our team as well as giving real ability for individuals to take a role in service design and bring their innovative ideas to the fore.
