Deputy Ward Manager based at The Chemotherapy Treatment Unit, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate for a Deputy Ward Manager who will be based in the chemotherapy treatment unit, CCCL. This position is for a Band 6 at 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the possibility of Saturday working.

The individual should have extensive oncology experience and have completed the SACT UKONs Passport. Candidates must be able to demonstrate good leadership skills. You would also be required to deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager and complete managerial duties.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals with excellent organisation, communication skills, and the ability to lead and drive change. The post holder will support staff and patients within an outpatient environment and play a major role in supporting the ward manager in future nursing developments.

Main Duties of the Deputy Ward Manager: Responsible for safely assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care to patients attending the department. Offer patients and families advice to manage toxicities and symptoms related to their treatment and support to address their holistic needs. Supervise junior staff and participate in the teaching and assessing of pre and post-registration students. Offer advice, support, and education to clinical teams across the trust where appropriate. Act as a link nurse in key nursing roles to ensure the safe delivery of the SACT service. Provide clinical leadership to support the delivery of evidence-based patient-centered care. Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others. Take responsibility for the Quality Management of their designated areas with a specific emphasis on Infection Control, leading a Nurse Led Service, and Patient Safety. Manage local resolution of patient concerns and complaints. Escalate risk/issues and effectively action to minimise future risks. Develop patient pathways and be responsible for developing the SACT nursing service. Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the division and lead clinical audits.
