We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated engineer to join our small, friendly Design and Technology Team based in Blythe Bridge, Stoke-on-Trent. We have an interesting and varied workload, providing a machinery inspection and repair service to schools, academies, and other establishments across Staffordshire and neighbouring counties. Your work will minimise the risks to the health and safety of pupils and employees through the inspection, maintenance, and repair of design and technology workshop machinery to BS 4163:2021+A1:2022 Health and safety for design and technology in schools and similar establishments Code of Practice. This is a hybrid role so when you are not visiting sites, there is an opportunity to work from home to complete reports, source parts, etc. Main Responsibilities

As a member of the Design and Technology Team you will: Carry out condition inspections, maintenance, and repair work on a range of equipment such as lathes, drills, millers, circular saws, etc. used to deliver the design and technology curriculum. Work to British Standards, approved codes of practice, and relevant health and safety regulations. Write timely and accurate reports. Source and order parts. Communicate directly with customers. Complete planned and reactive activities including responding to customer requests to resolve equipment breakdowns and repairs. The Ideal Candidate

You will have engineering experience working and maintaining a variety of machines and equipment together with: Relevant qualifications in electrical and mechanical engineering. A commercial Gas Safe qualification would be a bonus. Good interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work well in a small team and independently with minimum supervision. Good problem-solving skills to identify and rectify faults. Experience of using information technology including Microsoft packages. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
