Description: Experienced and enthusiastic design engineer required to design and develop products and tooling using the Creo Parametric design package within a global market leading solutions environment. Our client has been established for almost 40 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of electrical cabling and connection solutions for supply throughout the world, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to complement their dynamic and professional team and be responsible for the design and development of products and tooling and for the implementation of improvements to the manufacturing and assembly processes on an ongoing basis.Reporting to the Design Manager and working within core values of the business, the successful Design Engineer will be tasked with delivering improved efficiency and reducing downtime on a range of products and processes, and be responsible for both investigating and undertaking analysis on how to improve existing tooling or components, summarising scientific and engineering principles in an easy to understand manner and writing supporting technical reports to summarise findings, presenting information using PowerPoint and covering the concept, specification and development of new tooling components. As Design Engineer, you will undertake CAD model creation, prototyping and appropriate testing and perform essential material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis, identifying new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs whilst communicating effectively with the clients, colleagues and contractors involved at various stages of projects. You will plan effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard and in – budget, and will rigorously evaluate manufacturing processes, researching and developing solutions in order to increase efficiency, reduce down time, waste and scrap, whilst ensuring consistent repeatable processes and product quality are maintained.Working with the coordinators and operatives in order to implement new machines and procedures, you will be responsible for providing manufacturing support and information for all processes, undertaking CAD drawing creation, review and storage as well as Press tooling and fixture design, generating and maintaining product and process data and training and contacting and maintaining relationships with vendors for equipment and solutions, as well as performing New Product Development, testing and research as necessary. To be considered for this varied and challenging Design Engineer role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 4+ previous years’ experience gained in a Design Engineer role and will realistically be qualified to Degree / HND / HNC level or above in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering discipline. With proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite of products, you will also possess SAP / ERP experience and essentially experience of 3D CAD (CREO Parametric preferred) used in Tooling or jig and fixture design. Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and of ferrous and non-ferrous metals will prove distinctly advantageous
