Mechanical Design Engineer

role? Would you like to work a 4-day week? As part of the design team, you will be involved in all aspects of product development, including design, manufacturing, technical publications, and quality. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design and development of both new and existing products. You will be part of a compact but enthusiastic team, passionate about producing equipment to the highest levels of performance and quality in the industry. Responsibilities:

Provide engineered solutions for the design and development of both new and existing products. Produce Engineering BOMs and Technical drawings for the production and manufacture of machines. Ensure both new and current products meet the required standards and performance characteristics for safety, function, and reliability. Reduce manufacturing costs through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing, and suppliers. Provide technical support to production staff on the factory floor during the assembly of machines as necessary to help resolve any build issues that arise. Investigate and address customer queries in a timely manner. Drive standardisation of components and sub-assemblies within products. Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends, applying the latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovative. Produce technical publications, including user manuals, spare parts books, quality check documents, standards of builds, and technical specifications. Experience & Qualifications:

A degree or HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or relevant discipline. Competent user of 3D CAD package Solidworks or similar. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems desirable. Familiarity with the various applications the equipment can operate in and their typical performance characteristics desirable but not essential. Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role in the recycling, quarry, material handling, agricultural, or heavy plant sector desirable. Competent user of Microsoft Office Packages.
