RPS are working in conjunction with a global aerospace manufacturer who, after a period of sustained growth, are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join the team in their Lincoln facility.

Design Engineer Position Description

Scope of the role: Responsible for taking Product Engineering designs and turning them into 2D drawings that the production department can work to, utilising the most cost-effective and efficient processes. This person will work as part of a small production design team but will also work under their own initiative when required. The systems they will work with are Solidworks, Catia, Smarteam, and Infor XA. They will work closely with other Engineering Departments and other relevant departments within the organisation when needed. They will also work with external sources when required.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

Compiling production design drawings to satisfy customer and manufacturing requirements. Compiling product design drawings to satisfy customer requirements ensuring they are fit for manufacture. Provide practical solutions to problems on the shop floor. Liaising with all other relevant department personnel when needed. Reading and interpreting British standards, customers and company standards and specifications to satisfy customer and manufacturing requirements. Work with external suppliers/subcontractors with technical data/information when needed. Infor XA work will include: Item creation/amendments BOM creation/amendments Routing creation/amendments

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar environment. Min - ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering. Proven experience of using draughting packages. Create & Check manufacturing stage drawings. Compiling BOM, routings, modelling. Geometric tolerancing, material stock allowance. Dassault Smarteam experience preferable. Checking/understanding customer specifications. Good product and manufacturing knowledge. Create/maintain drawing standard procedures. Engineering knowledge in aerospace industry preferable.
