NDT Personnel is excited to be recruiting on behalf of an established NDT capital equipment manufacturer located in South Yorkshire. Our client has long been a renowned name within its sector, specialising in the manufacture of equipment associated with magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspections, with diverse market presence in many sectors, including aerospace, rail, and oil & gas.

The role: The role is for an experienced design engineer to work in support of the fabrication department in an autonomous role to produce designs for both standard and bespoke equipment used in the NDT sector. The successful candidate would be working as part of a team from initial concept designs working with technical sales, through to production alongside electrical design and installation.

No previous experience in NDT is required specifically as in-house training will be given.

Experience required (essential): A history of designing chemical processing lines / roller track lines / tanks / spray booths to a high standard Confident materials knowledge, particularly of stainless steel and mild steel - Down to 1.5mm sheet Hands-on knowledge and understanding of engineering and fabrication process including welding Good awareness of engineering best practices and safety regulations Familiarity with basic mechanical systems including motor, sprocket, and chain systems Knowledge and competency of understanding and designing pneumatic systems (favourable but not essential) Exceptional skills with AutoCAD Lite 2D (or SolidWorks 3D but AutoCAD Lite 2D preferred)

The person: A strong leader with confidence in their skills and knowledge to communicate effectively, especially with accurate lead times Able to work independently (the majority of the role) and integrate and communicate with the teams at crucial points during projects A natural when working under pressure and able to work to and implement strict deadlines A keen learner with a natural curiosity to understand new things Comfortable contributing to design discussions with design personnel and technical sales

This role plays a crucial part in the function of the business and nurturing its future, and will suit an individual with strong organisational skills and the ability to be 'plain speaking' when required. Your wealth of expertise will be put to great use in this position, and will potentially also allow for further personal growth in the future. The position attracts £19.55-£21.55p/hour (£40k-£45k annual salary equivalent) and a discretionary company bonus, too.
