Thermon is looking for a collaborative and innovative Design Engineer who will design heat tracing systems based on our customer specifications to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and Thermon profitability. As a Design Engineer, you will identify requirements from customers drawings, specifications, instructions and Thermon quotations. In addition, you will prepare heat tracing isometrics, panelboard and cable schedules, wiring diagrams, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and location plans. Our Designer team works on small to medium projects simultaneously where you will collaborate with other designers, engineers and project managers as well as utilize drafting technology and Thermon design software to design heat tracing systems. The Designer will be based out of our office located at 2 Turbine Way, Sunderland, SR5 3NZ, England, United Kingdom Key Responsibilities Review of all project specifications and documentation necessary to develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work. Follow project requirements, along with expectations on quality, schedule or other restrictions of a technical nature. Follow established processes and procedures including Project Design guide, Project Execution Guide, Quality Plan and provide input where deficiencies occur. Maintain the Project Design folder structure. Provide input in the development of Global and Regional tools and procedures as required. Interact and engage with customer representatives on technical issues. Create and review drawings using VisiTrace, Computrace and other Thermon software or methodology. Prepare and review drawings for accuracy; check and approve drawings prepared by other designers. Conduct site surveys to gather information required for heat tracing design. Requirements Technically proficient in drafting drawings in AutoCAD and MicroStation. Advanced experience with MS Office skills Working technical knowledge of electricity (Ohms Law, voltage, amperage, circuits) Working technical knowledge of piping and insulation systems and components Working knowledge of P&IDs (Piping & Instrument Diagrams) Working knowledge of Codes and Standards that pertain to heat tracing (IEEE 515, IEC/IEEE 60079-30-1 NEC, IEC, etc.) Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment Able to generate new ideas, challenge the status quo, take risks, support change, encourage innovation, and solve problems creatively. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to team members, supervisors, and internal/external customers. Basic Qualifications 3 years of experience as a Designer or Design Engineer in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Renewables or Pharma or similar industries. Bachelors Degree of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar technical education.
