Role: Design Lead
Location: London and Greater London area + Essex
Salary: Upto £115k + Car Allowance and Packaged benefits associated with a Tier 1 Contractor
The Role:
You will be responsible for leading a team of Senior Design/ Design and Assistant Design Managers. The company is a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor predominantly working in the Education, Healthcare and Commercial Sectors.
Responsibilities:
Lead the assigned function (Healthcare/Public/Residential/Commercial), ensuring best practices are implemented across all project stages (Pre-Construction, Design, Delivery, Aftercare). Establish the function as a centre of excellence through in-house training and Continued Professional Development (CPD) and individual staff development plans. Ensure all projects include Fire, Quality, and Design start-up meetings to identify risks and opportunities. Collaborate with the Technical Assurance Director and Sector/Regional Leads to manage design and quality across your portfolio. Manage and mentor teams, including Senior Design Managers (SDMs), Design Managers (DMs), and Assistant Design Managers (ADMs), supporting tenders, live projects, and career progression. Conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance with project obligations, review design programs and processes, and optimize team and project performance. Drive the delivery of high-quality, risk-aware design solutions. This role might be for you if you have experience:
