An Overview… My client, an ambitious interior fit-out contractor, is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their team. After a strong and progressive 2024, they have secured several new clients and new projects and frameworks for 2025 and the foreseeable future. Due to their success, they are looking for an Intermediate level Design Manager with a strong technical focus to join their organically growing team. As a key member of the team, you will be taking responsibility for projects with a value of up to £2,000,000. These projects are typically fast-paced CATA and CAT B fitouts within the Commercial, Education, Healthcare and Hospitality areas. What you’ll have to do… Oversee the design process for commercial fit out projects from inception to completion, ensuring designs meet client specifications, project scope, and industry standards. Coordinate the design phases including conceptualisation, schematic design, detailed design, and construction documentation. Ensure design consistency, quality, and alignment with the project brief throughout the project life cycle. Provide technical expertise in design management, act as a focal point for all technical design-related matters on projects. Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure a high level of design delivery. Ensure all design work complies with relevant building regulations, fire codes, health and safety standards, and any other applicable regulatory legislation. What they’re looking for… Proven UK experience of design management within commercial fit out projects. Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction processes in commercial environments. Proficient in design software (Auto CAD, Rev it, Sketch Up etc.). Familiarity with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.). Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex design concepts to clients and non-technical stakeholders. Highly organised and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
