The Opportunity:
Laing O'Rourke have an opportunity for a Civils & Geotechnical Design Manager to join the team on our Letchmore substation project for the National Grid based from our corporate head office in Dartford. A Laing O'Rourke Design Manager ensures that all design information is reviewed and delivered in line with the design management procedures for completeness and compliance with contractual obligations, including factors such as programme, buildability, safety, maintenance and technical suitability. In addition, the Design Manager oversees the production, control and distribution of design information at different project stages and ensures regular progress reporting of the design is in place.
The Laing O'Rourke Design Manager is a senior member of the Design Job Family and Technical Function, which is there to ensure technical excellence, assurance and performance across all projects and opportunities from pre-project, early engagement and work winning through to detailed delivery. All of our designers are part of our Engineering Enterprise which aims to maximise and realise the potential of design to increase certainty on our projects.
What will the role look like?
Supporting our consultant teams to maximise their effectiveness and value optimisation in the provision of effective integrated design solutions that meet our clients' business needs (strategies and budgets).
Maximising the effectiveness of consultant relationships.
Reviewing design delivery to enhance quality of solutions and efficiency of design, procurement, manufacturing,
