My client is a successful main contractor with a turnover in excess of £100m, who work in the new-build commercial, education and healthcare sectors. They're seeking a Design Manager who has previously worked in a main contracting environment. The scope of the role includes:
Involvement in design and build projects, or projects with large elements of contractor design. Involvement of pre-construction/tender design management, as well as live/construction stage design management. The role is both project specific and also process related and duties will vary from project to project. Project Management of live schemes with the project management team. Main duties will include (but not be limited to): Manage the delivery of construction information to facilitate the achievement of the required project cost, programme and quality. Undertake the role of Temporary Works Coordinator if required. Review and improve (where necessary) design management systems and processes. Develop relationships with designers, consultants and the client. Have full involvement from tender stage through to project completion.
