We’re looking for a Senior Engineer, with considerable post-graduate experience, looking to make the next step in their career and step into this Design Manager role. You will be leading a team of five skilled engineers and one apprentice. You will be responsible for delivering designs for the energy networks of the future, as United Living continues on their exciting period of growth. Line management experience isn’t essential. We are happy to work with the successful candidate to help bring them up to speed in this area. Responsibilities: Ensure that all aspects of the design are fully co-ordinated. Assist the team in the management and compilation of the overall project. Represent the business as Designated Individual for Temporary Works according to BS 5975. Experience in this area is desirable but not essential as we can upskill you in this area. Capable of creating 2D and 3D models/drawings using relevant software (AutoCAD, Inventor). Review/interrogate the consultants' and sub-contractors drawings and hold package review meetings with relevant site team members. Innovate with the team to create new design methods. Ensure that United Living's drive for world-class Health and Safety is delivered in all aspects of your work. Qualifications

Minimum 5 years’ post-grad experience working and delivering design solutions from first principles. MEng/MSc in relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Structural, Civil). Willing to travel – Full UK Driving License is essential. Ideally Charted Engineer with relevant institution, but not essential. We can support you on this. Ideally familiar with and experience working to National Grid / Cadent / SGN / NGN specifications and design procedures such as BS 5975, Eurocodes, etc. Management skills – staff, clients, commercial, and programmes.
