£25,000 - £35,000 The Client Our client is a leading commercial glazing, curtain walling, cladding and façade specialist and they are looking to add a Design Technician to their team. The Role of Design Technician To carry out all aspects of Design from Drawing to Construction Working with the Senior Design Technician to interpret drawings and designs for Curtain walling, fenestration, cladding. Assist in design and management of projects, establish client brief, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plans and agree deliverables, i.e. reports, specifications and drawings scope for all projects with your Line Manager. Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, from tender and contract through on-site supervision, to completion. Using AutoCAD and other systems to ensure the accurate and timely provision of drawings as per the client brief. Ensure projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved as set by your Line Manager. Collaborate with internal & external design teams to produce co-ordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Provide positive contribution to design/project meetings. Maintain regular 'in house' design reviews and checks. Assist in implementing and managing QA systems and procedures on all projects where appropriate. Effectively manage own time, work and programme for allocated tasks, ensuring that information used is current and suitably recorded. Develop own technical expertise and performance against objectives, as agreed with your Line Manager. Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the CDM regulations. Continuously adopt all Civil engineering rules and regulations, ensuring protection of the Company's reputation and Professional Indemnity at all times. Raise any concerns or possible delays to deadlines immediately to your line manager. Take personal responsibility for product knowledge, reading product manuals and guides to understand products and relevant specifications. As a representative of Britplas, you are expected to present yourself and your team to the highest standards and strive to deliver excellent levels of customer service. Maintain good communication with the staff in the office and factory to enable successful co-ordination of scheduling and sharing of information. Desired Skills & Qualifications Experience in a similar role with similar products (curtain walling, cladding, windows, doors) is essential. Experience of producing fabrication/detailed drawings. Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings and information. Ability to work with 2D & 3D drawings. Clean driving licence. Extensive experience and ability in AutoCAD. Experience of MS Office applications (Word, Excel & Outlook). Experience of Revit/Sketchup/Rhino is desirable.
