Ferndown Benefits 36 holiday days inclusive bank holidays Life insurance Private medical insurance on completion of one year's service Job Summary Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the job holder is responsible for providing technical solutions and ensuring efficient delivery of complex marine exhaust projects from concept design stage to manufacturing. Providing manufacturing designs, BOM’s and drawings ensuring that the final product is designed for manufacture and will achieve expected cost, quality, and delivery. The job holder will also support the Principal Engineer to develop new products and processes and provide excellent communication and support to all relevant areas of the business. Main Responsibilities Upon product design allocation, work with relevant departments and skills including, Sales, Principal Engineer, and relevant manufacturing teams to ensure production designs are fit for function, meet customers requirements and designed for manufacture prior to drawing release. Utilize and develop skills set to resolve technical challenges including back pressure calculations, acoustics, and vibration. Lead and plan new Product Development projects including from concept stage through to manufacturing including, design options, costings, prototyping and testing. Trouble shooting technical problems at customer premises. Provide technical product designs and manufacturing drawings whilst ensuring design for manufacture and expected cost, quality and delivery expectations are achieved. Actively participate with new product projects utilizing the stage gate process. Lead and actively participate with process and quality improvement activities including root cause analysis, 5 why’s and other relevant improvement techniques. Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers including site visits. Support and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations and all other Company policies and procedures.

Excellent leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills. Able to plan, analyze and multitask. Able to work cross functionally as part of the wider business team. Confident and decisive decision-making skills.

Qualifications and Experience Relevant graduate level engineering qualification or equivalent experience. Experience of Mechanical engineering design, including pipework, sheet metal, welded fabrications and producing accurate detail drawings. Experience working with composites and rubber manufacturing is desirable. Experience with Inventor or similar 3D CAD software and Excel. ERP system experience is desirable. Experience of FMEA, stage gate process, continuous improvement, problem solving and error proofing techniques. Consistently demonstrates high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity.
