Designer / Collage artist, Visual Storytelling The Telegraph are looking for a Designer specialising in collage and image making/manipulation to join the award winning Visual Storytelling team. We are an in-house creative team within The Telegraph working across digital, print, video, events and marketing. We work directly with editorial stakeholders and a newsroom of over 500 journalists. The department’s aim is brand awareness and core engagement across multiple age groups. Pushing the creative output daily, challenging the status quo whilst staying true to The Telegraph brand. As a team we cover daily reactional work and longer-term experiential interactive long-read designs, branding and visual identities for Podcasts and special projects. The right candidate will need to be adaptable in styles and have a flair for solving creative solutions. Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Design Lead on the days main features and priority pieces - Focusing on both Digital and Print outputs Working to fast-paced deadlines on creative initiatives Artworking conceptual illustrations with focus on image manipulation & collage as well as fundamental graphic design. Collaborating closely with Editors, Developers, Producers and Journalists to brainstorm and storyboard visuals for the day’s topics Working closely within our small Design team and Lead Designers to explore concepts and produce exceptional imagery and storytelling with a fast turnaround Great communication across departments is key and confidence in expressing ideas articulately to a wide range of audiences Providing visual guidance and support to producers, editors and journalists to ensure visual excellence across all we do both digitally and equally print Essential Skills Required for the Role

Time management, ability to juggle with multiple projects daily with fast turnaround An outstanding portfolio of projects, illustration and collage styles Have a strong graphic design/illustration aesthetic with an artistic flair Excellent creative and conceptual thinking Fluency with the full Adobe Creative Suite and Figma Ability to create conceptual illustrations with focus on image manipulation & collage as well as fundamental graphic design. Self motivated, proactive with a positive mentality Have an open minded and receptive approach to innovating and iterating your designs Thrive in a fast paced environment Ability to work under pressure independently and as well as part of a team Interest in current affairs and have a passion for telling stories and solving problems simply and creatively A keen eye on typography and current design trends Understanding of motion graphics Good organisation skills and experience of managing design time effectively Presentation skills, ability to communicate and present ideas to the wider newsroom Experience in editorial/newsroom is essential The nature of our industry means life at the Telegraph Media Group is fast-paced, demanding, and interesting.
