Womenswear Designer

to join our London apparel team. This is a

12-month maternity cover ,

full time , offering a salary of

£40,000 per annum. As our

Womenswear Designer , you will have a genuine interest and passion for luxury apparel. Your experience will support in designing timeless knitwear to our newest addition of Bamford active wear, each piece to reflect our commitment to natural materials, artisan craftsmanship and enduring design. You will follow this philosophy to the highest professional standard. RESPONSIBILITIES Designing across multiple categories of dresses, trousers, jackets, outerwear, skirts from concept and sketching through to completion of product in stores. Collaborate with factories to work on diverse collections from small leather goods to activewear and other seasonal product requests. Interpret the company archive to inform and design exciting new silhouettes and contemporary shapes. Attention to detail on fabrics, trims, stitching, finishings, embroidery. Interpret the seasonal theme and inspiration to research fabric and colour concepts via fabric fairs and visual research. Responsible for developing collections that align with the brand's strong design identity and vision. Present and communicate with sketching and mood boards to the product team and stakeholders, supervising the entire design process and technical decisions. Ownership of each product input into copy for wholesale and online selling, ensuring each product has all the correct information. SKILLS YOU WILL BRING Graduated from a Fashion Design BA course or MA course. 3+ years in a womenswear designer role in the luxury sector. Highly creative and strong understanding of customer needs. Excellent sensitivity to fabrication, colour detail and proportion. Ability to work well in a fast paced and creative environment. Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently. Champion of the business and brand aesthetic. Highly organised, self-sufficient with an ability to prioritise and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working in a fast-paced, creative environment, with a record of delivering successful projects in a timely manner. Confident at presenting. Good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Office suite. Technical knowledge of woven, jersey and knitted fabrics. Excellent technical hand drawing skills. A good technical knowledge of garment construction, fit and working with natural fibres. Written and oral fluency in English.
