About the role

As a Development Controller you will lead the Development team, driving and managing a pipeline to deliver innovation and business growth, supported by effective customer relationships. This role will involve working with one of our strategic customers. You will be responsible for Product Development across a number of key product category areas, interfacing with multiple site Development and Operational teams to deliver product plans.

Key Role Accountabilities

Build and maintain effective relationships across key functions, working collaboratively to align development activities with customer and business strategies. Motivate, manage and support the team to deliver the development activity to the highest standard, while mentoring team members to deliver personal development. Drive continuous improvement in product quality, margin enhancement, operational efficiency and ways of working. Leverage strong and effective customer relationships to deliver growth opportunities, ensuring alignment to business strategy. Define, develop and deliver Development plans for product categories, working with Commercial and Marketing and applying category management principles. Present products demonstrating product and process knowledge, using knowledge to influence effectively and deliver solutions. Demonstrate an inherent passion and enthusiasm for food and an ability to present innovation effectively and creatively to excite and inspire. Build a good understanding of Bakkavor site capabilities and utilise to leverage opportunity.

About you

To excel as a Development Controller, you'll need: A proven track record in chilled food manufacturing product development. Strong food values. The ability to build strong and effective relationships. Strong organisational and project management skills. A well-developed understanding of category management principles with the ability to think broadly and creatively.

A highly motivated and confident leader with good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to influence, manage and motivate effectively. Adept at creating, driving and delivering category development plans, with a drive for excellence and innovation. A driven, passionate and focused self-starter. Adept at driving continuous improvement and change. A dynamic, agile and creative self-starter able to solve problems and deliver solutions.
