About Us

At StoryTerrace, we're on a mission to ensure every life story is captured in a meaningful way. As an award-winning publishing-tech scale-up headquartered in London with a presence in the US and UK, we use our proprietary platform, Bookmaker, and a network of 600+ talented ghostwriters to help individuals transform their stories into professionally written memoirs. These memoirs are shared with the people who matter most, leaving a lasting legacy. With thousands of books created, we are the market leader in this rapidly evolving industry. Featured by major outlets like GQ, The Times, and BBC Radio 4, we also won BBC Dragons' Den in 2020. About the Role

We are looking for experienced freelance Development Editors to join our publishing team as we embark on expanding our rapidly growing PRO line of Publishing-Grade Memoirs and Topic-Based Nonfiction books. Because we are looking to provide our clients top-of-the-line quality books that may either be for their own personal distribution and enjoyment, or for broader distribution and sales via our Self-Publishing programme, we are putting together an ace team of book publishing professionals to deliver on those standards. The Development Editor is a key component of this team. You will be involved in the project from the initial content strategy session with the client and the Global Publishing Manager wherein the overall vision and structure of the book will be decided, all the way through the manuscript development stage, working closely with the client and the ghostwriter to ensure the book’s narrative adheres to the vision, scope, and structure determined in the strategy session and reads as clearly and compellingly as possible. About You

The ideal candidate will have at least 7-10 years’ experience as a development editor, and at least part of that experience will have been working with or for top-tier trade or academic publishers. Be adept at working with high profile clients, demonstrating VIP customer service and communication skills while also maintaining boundaries in order to deliver projects according to our tightly honed, tried-and-true process Have experience working on books across a range of topics, some of which may be of a sensitive nature Highly organised and deadline-oriented Able to provide critical but constructive feedback to the ghost writer and the client, and will be able to demonstrate how their edits serve to improve the manuscript if challenged Able to work simultaneously on anywhere from 2-5 projects a month in a fast-changing, ever-evolving, and entrepreneurial environment Have a passion for people’s stories! Join Us

£1200 for 20K word manuscript This is an exciting opportunity to work with the world’s leading memoir and ghostwriting service as it continues its scale-up journey.
