Three Oceans Ltd is recruiting for the role of Development Technologist to work in our dynamic development team. These are exciting times for Three Oceans as we grow our product portfolio and customer base and we require a highly motivated individual who has recently completed a degree in a Food Science, Nutrition or related discipline to join our team.

Brief Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Technologist will take an active role in managing the whole product life cycle. Starting from idea formulation and customer briefs to kitchen sample creation, factory trials/launches and post launch reviews in collaboration with our sales, supply chain, operations and quality teams, you will be helping deliver our product strategy for our business and customers. In addition to new products, the role will include review and continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

Detailed Role Description & Responsibilities

Working as a key member of the New Project Development team to deliver on time product launches for Three Oceans’ customers.

Discuss development briefs with the relevant teams to understand production feasibility and capabilities.

Drive and develop existing products by performing product benchmarking and buyback reviews on Three Oceans own and competitors’ products to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Help manage critical paths and stage gate processes to deliver new product launches on time.

Assist in the creation of kitchen samples, factory trials, and product development files to ensure up-to-date and accurate information.

Attend and contribute at NPD meetings about ongoing existing product development projects.

Generate information required for product specifications such as raw material and ingredient specifications.

Prepare and facilitate shelf life and organoleptic testing of new products to ensure product quality and food safety.

Review artwork against specifications, legal requirements, and quality standards.

Set up and complete factory processing standards for new products.

Assist with factory handovers of new products to the operations and logistics teams.

Monitor newly launched products to ensure they are in line with specifications and optimal product quality is achieved.

Key Skills & Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent in Food Science, Nutrition or a related discipline.

Good numeracy skills and computer literate.

Excellent team player with an ability to build relationships at all levels.

Genuine interest in food and new products.

Good time-management skills.

Comfortable working within different environments (e.g., office, factory, and kitchen).

Creative and innovative approach to problem solving.

NPD placement experience advantageous but not essential.

Full valid UK Driving license.
