Job Description DevOps Engineer Position Description Are you passionate about enhancing infrastructure and supporting live systems? We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team as an Infrastructure Implementation & Configuration Specialist. This role will focus on the implementation and configuration of infrastructure improvements, maintaining deployment environments, and supporting changes to live systems when needed. The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This role that will be based at a site in Leatherhead. Your future duties and responsibilities Are you ready to influence key technology decisions and apply your DevOps expertise in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment? We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our well-established Agile delivery project supporting a critical operational system. This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with a semi-mature environment, drive modernisation, and be part of a close-knit team. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement DevOps tools and processes in alignment with the project's technical objectives. Evaluate, deploy, and maintain tools such as orchestration platforms, automated testing, security scanning, and application deployment systems. Define and configure physical and virtual infrastructure, leveraging Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible. Work closely with infrastructure, development, and testing teams to ensure user requirements are met and processes are optimised. Monitor the product landscape and recommend tools that align with the project's roadmap. Support users, including developers and testers, to maximise the value of DevOps environments. Required qualifications to be successful in this role We are seeking someone with a strong grasp of DevOps concepts, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to refine and enhance semi-mature environments. Essential Skills and Experience Comprehensive understanding of DevOps principles, implementation challenges, and best practices. Proven experience implementing DevOps processes, including: Tool selection (e.g., orchestration, testing, security scanning, application deployment). Infrastructure design and management, including IaC. Deployment, maintenance, and administration of DevOps tools. Experience supporting users in DevOps environments, including developers and testers. Proficiency in GitLab Continuous Integration, Terraform, and Ansible. Desirable Skills Experience architecting and documenting complete DevOps solutions, presenting them to stakeholders. A track record of successfully transitioning projects to DevOps processes. Familiarity with secure environments and managing security classifications. Knowledge of DevSecOps and integrating security into DevOps workflows. Experience with Nexus Sonatype, Linux, VMware, and containerisation tools.
