An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Medicine Business Unit 2 at the Royal Derby Hospital for a Medical Secretary, to work as part of our Diabetes & Endocrinology Medical Secretary Team. The post holder will be required to provide an efficient secretarial service to the consultants and their team in respect of NHS work. They will need to work flexibly with or alongside medical secretarial staff, consultants and other teams when required. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication & problem-solving skills. You will require high levels of tact and diplomacy with the ability to prioritise your own workload effectively to enable day-to-day management. You will be working alongside a number of consultants and various other clinical staff. Main duties of the job
You will act as the main point of contact for patients and medical staff on behalf of the consultant and team ensuring that all queries are answered with skill and sensitivity and in a courteous and professional manner Efficient management of Consultant diary Typing and dispatch of clinical correspondence within agreed timescales and quality standards Ensure urgent test results/correspondence is brought to the immediate attention of the Consultant or team An understanding of 18-week RTT process Support management in the preparation and validation of waiting lists and performance data in team leader's absence Liaise effectively with wards, departments and other clinical staff within the hospital and external healthcare providers All training required will be provided on appointment.
