Part Time - 22.5 hours per week

- An opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse who is looking for an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge within the specialist field of diabetes as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (Band 6). The role will work across multiple locations, including community. This post will allow the successful candidate to advance their knowledge in diabetes and the long-term health needs of adults. You will need to have demonstrated an interest in diabetes supported by recent experience or qualifications. The post holder will provide clinical expertise and will join a dynamic team across various locations. The applicants must be committed to providing an excellent standard of patient care and also to their own professional development. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be supportive and open to new initiatives. As a growing service meeting the needs of an expanding local population, the service provides a number of routine and specialist services. To provide comprehensive, effective and specialist diabetes nursing care and advice to patients, carers, and health care professionals across a variety of settings, including community. To work closely with other health care professionals in the development of diabetes services. To assess, plan, develop, and evaluate programmes of diabetes patient care in collaboration with other members of the diabetes team. The successful candidate will be expected to work across various Trust locations. Person Specification

Experience

Experience of care delivery. Experience of the specialism, which would normally be gained through working at Band 5. Evidence of leading a team. Evidence of leading innovation in practice. Evidence of leading change management. Evidence of practice development. Experience of coordinating care for a caseload of patients. Budget Management. Participation in recruitment and selection process. Experience in conducting research and critiquing clinical evidence. Experience in implementing quality frameworks. Physical skills

Ability to assist patients to move as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy. Carrying teaching equipment such as laptop, stationary etc. Manual dexterity and up to date working knowledge of equipment e.g. syringe drivers, infusion pumps etc. Qualifications

Degree in nursing studies or relevant clinical degree or evidence that currently working towards this (UK equivalent). Mentorship certificate/Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience. Clinical skills accreditation or willingness to complete. Leadership and Management Course. Basic knowledge of financial management. Non-medical prescribing or willingness to complete. Knowledge & Skills

Basic IT skills. Understanding of contemporary nursing issues. Evidence of continuous professional development. Knowledge of how to facilitate learning. Knowledge of current professional and clinical governance issues. Knowledge of research and clinical audit. Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships and interpersonal dynamics. Venepuncture, cannulation and IV drug administration. Evidence of competency in relation to nursing practices appropriate to the post. Time management. Ability to assess, deliver, evaluate and benchmark quality care. Qualification in specialty. Counselling and appraisal skills. Disclosure and Barring Service Check

£37,338 to £44,962 a year PRO RATA FOR PART TIME
