You will be joining one of the county's top performing forces and work in an environment which is challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

South Wales Police particularly welcomes applicants from under-represented groups.

The Role: This is a unique opportunity to join our Digital Forensics Team with a chance to gain hands-on experience involving a variety of tasks and projects in a dynamic digital policing environment. The successful candidate will gain an understanding of how forensic examinations of digital technology are undertaken and in turn assist in the identification, prevention and detection of criminal activity.

The Opportunity The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience in computer forensics and crime investigation, with an opportunity to examine digital media in a forensically sound manner and in the process identify, preserve, recover, analyse and present reports for the criminal justice system.

Our Graduate Trainee Programme provides you with the opportunity to gain essential work experience in your chosen field of work and will also enable you to gain a professional qualification and build on your already achieved academic qualifications.

You'll also benefit from the opportunity to develop many other skills including leadership, critical thinking, and team building and participate in some of the established South Wales Police training programmes.

Study Package All professional studies will be fully funded, and you will be provided with the necessary time to ensure you are able to attain such studies.

Network of Support In addition to the support of your peers, you will be allocated: a line manager who will provide you with general support and guidance and play a role in developing and supporting you throughout your professional studies; a buddy to help ease you into your new role as well as providing ongoing informal support, introducing you to a social network and being a starting point for general queries.

Plus, you will get support, encouragement and opportunities to grow. You will join people who are as enthusiastic about your development as you are and who are just as keen to see you do well.

The programme commences in September 2025. In order to be eligible for the Graduate programme you will need to be a final year Student due to complete your course this year (with a predicted grade of 2:1 or above) or alternatively you will have graduated within 3 years, with a 2:1 or above.
