The Director of Community and Family Support Services, with the support of the VP, Community and Family Support Services, is responsible for the administrative supervision, management, and development of the Community and Vocational Service programs, while ensuring compliance with OPWDD, ACCES-VR, DOL, and OSHA regulations. This position requires travel to remote program sites on a regular basis to provide oversight and support.
Role Responsibilities:
Oversees employee performance evaluations management and problem resolution.
Assists with interviews, hiring, training, timesheets, and retention efforts.
Ensures that all forms, reports, schedules, and other records are created, maintained, and submitted by the requirements and procedures established by the agency.
Makes decisions regarding personnel counseling provided to employees. In consultation with the Vice President of Community and Family Support Services, makes decisions regarding terminations of employment.
Participates in Incident Review Committee, Human Rights Committee, and other committees as assigned.
Responsible for providing oversight, coordination, leadership, and direction to the daily operation of family reimbursement services, community habilitation program, respite, and vocational services programs.
Researches new regulations and implements in-service training programs to ensure compliance.
Attends training programs and OPWDD ADM meetings.
Ensures ongoing and continued training of employees to develop, maintain, and increase training skills.
Ensures the provision of quality services to individuals supported and the provision of a positive work environment for program employees.
Liaison with day service providers, school districts, community groups, and state agencies.
Ensures high-quality person-centered services for all individuals supported.
Assists in formulating policies and reviewing proposals.
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
· 7+ years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
· 5+ years of experience in a leadership position.
· Current working knowledge of OPWDD, DOL, and ACCES-VR regulations; applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
· Must be able to display a high level of discretion and understand the sensitive nature of confidential information with superior emotional intelligence.
· Valid NYSDL.
