Company Overview

I’m working with a successful scale-up developing screen-free audio platforms. Since launching, they’ve redefined audio engagement by creating an intuitive experience that allows children to control their own audio content without screens, microphones, cameras, or ads.

Supported by a recently secured £22 million in funding, they’re looking to continue scaling its creative audio products to even more families worldwide.

Recognised by TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Inventions and Bloomberg’s UK startups to watch this is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing, mission-driven company!

Role Overview

As the Director of Hardware Engineering, you’ll report directly to our Co-Founder/CTO and lead the hardware engineering team through an exciting period of growth and innovation. This pivotal role involves guiding their hardware vision, driving new product development, and ensuring quality and durability across a range of interactive audio products. You’ll be responsible for scaling and mentoring a talented team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and delivering top-quality hardware solutions that align with our product vision.

Working closely with teams across software engineering, customer success, and production, you will ensure hardware products remain reliable, innovative, and sustainable from concept to mass production.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering complex hardware products to market, from concept through mass production.
  • Strong expertise in engineering principles.
  • Experience in consumer audio technologies such as audio/acoustic design, NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi, batteries, and power management.
  • Demonstrated experience scaling and leading an engineering team.
  • Background in managing large-scale manufacturing and supply chain relationships.
  • Proficiency in quality management, including design verification, validation, and testing.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in hardware development.
